Castletown House is a beautifully restored early 19th century family home situated on a working farm, within easy walking distance of the picturesque village of Donaghmore – setting for the film 'All Things Bright And Beautiful' which included such stars as Gabriel Byrne, Tom Wilkinson, Gabrielle Reidy , Ciaran Fitzgerald and Kevin McNally. Donaghmore also boasts a Famine Workhouse and an Agricultural Museum taking one back into a bleak and hungry era.

Rathdowney Designer Outlet is only 5 minutes drive and boasts such names as Pringle, Reebok, Joseph, Ben Sherman and Pierre Balmain to mention but a few.

Castletown House is Bord Failte Approved and has won no less than three Major Agri-tourism Awards and is also recommended by Brittany ferries, Dillard & Causin, Frommers and Bed and Breakfast Treasures. It is a family run business and is set on a beef, suckler cow and sheep farm.

Castletown House is a member of Town and Country Homes and Laois Tourism and Midlands East Tourism.
